Cycle through Northern England’s finest coastal landscapes, and the beautiful borders of Scotland finishing in Edinburgh
This site is not owned by Sustrans, it has been created by two people who rode the cycle way in September 2011, Jim Callender and James Kean.
This site covers information for other cyclists who want to do the same route. Recommend starting from Newcastle initially on the coast to coast route, then heading north once you reach the mouth of the River Tyne, onto Route 1 to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
From here you have two options – to continue on Route 1 heading heading West after Berwick is 200 miles. Or if you cannot get enough of the coast, continue North on Route 76 – this coastal route is 177 miles. Both finish in Edinburgh, Scotland’s second largest city.
